There are many reasons for female hair loss:

Androgenic alopecia is when the hair follicles become over loaded with testosterone and can be hereditary but can also be caused by ovarian cysts, the pill, pregnancy and the menopause.

Telogen effluvium is caused by a traumatic event such as illness, surgery, stress.

Anagen effluvium is caused by chemotherapy.

Alopecia areata is when the immune system attacks the hair follicles.

Traction alopecia is caused by hair braiding, tight ponytails, extensions etc

You need to see your doctor so you can get a proper diagnosis.

 It's Only Hair

Have you ever had the nightmare where you’re bald? Where you discover that there is not even one hair left on your head, it’s smooth and shiny like a pretty, new car? The one where you look like a Martian, or some poor shlub on a sitcom who just lost their hair from a bad perm or a practical joke gone bad? Oh, wait. That’s not a nightmare-that’s real! You ARE bald (or going bald). Maybe you still have some hair left, in which case, you think you look like a newly-hatched buzzard chick (and where’s that shell??).Regardless of the cause or degree of your hair loss, It’s Only Hair is a humorous self-help book that covers it all. This book deals with the clinical aspects, such as causes and treatments of all types of hair loss including alopecia, chemotherapy-related hair loss, and male and female pattern baldness, but more importantly, the psychological impact it has on bald and balding individuals. Written by a true Alopecian, Christine Mager Wevik, It’s Only Hair has a personal, insightful, and uplifting, if not brazenly honest approach to coping with The Shiny Head Syndrome: humor. “Laugh and the world laughs with you; weep and you weep alone.” (Ella Wheeler Wilcox, 1883) Look-we all know how endorphins work….okay, maybe we don’t. We just know that laughing feels good, and we forget that we have a choice in how we feel. Choose happiness-it’s more fun!

 Managing Menopause Naturally

Managing Menopause Naturally

In this informative new book, Dr. Emily Kane sets out to banish the current myths about menopause, making the important point that menopause is not a disease condition that requires medical intervention. It is instead, she says, a natural transition to be approached as a new type of freedom. Dr. Kane believes that menopause is a gift that allows many of us to live many more yearswithout monthly periods or the specter of unwanted pregnancies, or, for some, the roller coaster of premenstrual moodiness. This book is her road map for women, to help them navigate their way into, through, and out the other side of menopauseall the while in radiant health.Part One of Managing Menopause Naturally takes up the symptoms of hormonal change in the initial perimenopausal stage, which can include irregular menstrual periods, mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, bone and hair loss, and foggy thinking, and provides practical, natural, non-pharmaceutical solutions. Part Two recommends incredibly useful natural solutions, including bio-identical hormones, ways to protect the liver, and many different natural supplements. Part Three discusses the roles that the ovaries and the adrenal and thyroid glands play in the female body before, during, and after menopause. The final section is an overview of how to stay healthy for a long time, and gives specifics on maintaining a functional immune system and reducing the risks of heart disease and cancer.Throughout, Dr. Kane dismantles the myths created around menopause: how it causes diseases and turns women into raging terrors; how, because women live longer now, their estrogen must be replaced; and how all menopausal women should be treated with standard hormones. She says these and other related myths are all inspired by conventional doctors and pharmaceutical companies, and tells us how it is possible, instead, to manage this transitional phase naturally and comfortably. The back of the book contains resources and references for

The Seven Deadly Sins: Jewish, Christian, and Classical Reflections on Human Psychology

The Seven Deadly Sins: Jewish, Christian, and Classical Reflections on Human Psychology

$19.99

All of us are engaged in a personal, ongoing battle with sin and vice. The seven deadly sins–lust, greed, envy, anger, pride, gluttony, and sloth–are our main antagonists in this struggle. They are primary causes of unhappiness and immorality, and because of their pervasive nature, have been of perennial interest to religious thinkers, philosophers, dramatists, and poets. Although our anger doesn’t make most of us murderers, our lust doesn’t make most of us rapists, and our greed and envy don’t make most of us outright criminals, they, together with gluttony, arrogance, and sloth, often make us, and those who have to live with us, miserable. One need only read the daily paper to see that these seven sins are alive and well, deadlier than ever, spawning violence and suffering, illness and anxiety, loss of meaning and depression. An arrogant yuppie considers suicide after losing his job on Wall Street, which had been the fragile basis of his false pride. A distinguished senator and a prominent judge destroy their careers and wound their female victims with their lust. Millions of men and women, distraught about their body image, subject themselves to liposuction, breast and hair implants because of their gluttony or vanity. People at the pinnacle of economic power fall into the abyss of prison because they could not control their avarice. In The Seven Deadly Sins, Solomon Schimmel explains why psychology must incorporate many of the ethical and spiritual values of religion and moral philosophy if it is to effectively address the emotional problems faced by modern men and women, be they believers or agnostics. Drawing on the psychological insights of the Bible, Aristotle, Maimonides, Aquinas, and Shakespeare, among others, he shows how all of us can learn from them about the relationship between virtue and psychological well-being and vice and emotional distress. This insightful and fascinating work guides us to master our passions rather than
